First-Person Horror
A Deceptive Games Ltd. Release · Feb 6, 2018
A first-person psychological horror in which a tormented soul roams an endless loop of purgatory in search of a way out.
Silent Descent is a first-person psychological horror game from Deceptive Games Ltd. Players step into the role of Samuel Harris, a man trapped in a purgatorial limbo where familiar locations bend, repeat and decay around him. To escape, Samuel must confront what brought him here and attempt to save another soul caught in the same loop.
Gameplay focuses on slow exploration, environmental storytelling and tense encounters rather than combat. The world shifts between coherent reality and nightmarish reinterpretations of it, using sound design, lighting and level transformation to keep players uncertain about what is real from one moment to the next.
The game leans into the studio's strengths in atmosphere and constrained, hand-crafted spaces, delivering a contained single-player horror experience built for players who prefer dread and unease over jump-scares and action.

Silent Descent was developed in parallel with the studio's puzzle releases as a deliberate push into pure atmospheric horror, focused on sound design and shifting environments rather than combat.
"Silent Descent isn't about monsters in the dark — it's about the dread of being stuck somewhere that shouldn't exist, with someone you used to know."
— Gavin Powell, Managing Director & Game Director
"We wanted the world itself to feel like it was decaying around the player. Lighting, texture, scale — everything shifts just enough to keep you uncertain about what's real."
— Filipe Sabino, Art Director

Deceptive Games Ltd is a two-person independent studio based at Navigation Park in South Wales. By keeping the team deliberately small — a Managing Director and an Art Director, both senior, both hands-on — every game is shipped without committee, with two experienced developers responsible for every decision on screen.
